The Power of Adding the Word “Somehow”

The last part of the EFT setup phrase is “I deeply and completely accept myself.” I’ve seen many people have emotional difficulty and feel very uncomfortable just saying the phrase. Sometimes there’s a lot of resistance to speaking the words. EFT practitioner Ryan Harrison has come up with a powerful modification by adding the word “somehow.” It’s amazing how simply changing this one word is more accepting to people, releases resistance and opens up doors to emotional and physical healing. Some people are so loaded with negativity about themselves that they can’t say the “deeply and completely accept myself” part of the EFT process. For these folks, try using Ryan Harrison’s suggestion of integrating the term somehow within the wording. This is a very useful idea.

What’s the Point?

In learning EFT, I often get questions from people about the “correct” tapping points. Think of learning EFT as if you’re learning to play a piece of music. In the musical score, there are specific notes to hit no matter who plays the music. In EFT there are certain points to tap. Just as musicians will play a song differently according to their own style and feeling, you’ll do the same with EFT. As you become more proficient in EFT, you’ll discover which points “play the best music” and produce the most effective results for you.

EFT and Louise Hay’s New Thought Patterns

What you think — it turns out — matters. Many books talk about the mind-body connection. One book that’s been around for almost 30 years is Louise Hay’s book, Heal Your Body. A similar book she wrote and I highly recommend because it’s more comprehensive is, You Can Heal Your Life, the gift book edition. From a graphic design standpoint, it may be one of the most beautiful books you’ll ever own. It’s a pleasure to read. In both books, Louise talks about how limiting beliefs, thoughts and ideas are often the cause of illnesses.

Make Yourself Relax

I was having lunch with some friends the other day. The conversation got around to stress at work. One of my friends said he needed to make himself relax more. Now, that’s an oxymoron. Relaxation isn’t something to make happen. It’s simply being receptive and allowing things to be however they are in the moment. Perhaps Dr. Wayne Dyer said it best, “Everything in the universe flows. You can’t get ahold of water by clutching it. Let your hand relax and you can experience it.”

Switch Back on Your Positive Imagination

At what age does it happen? When do we turn it off? Is it three years old, five years old or later? What flips the switch? When does the way we use our imagination change from positively imagining grand, rich possibilities to imagining in negative, fearful and worrying ways? As little kids, we imagine we can fly, build castles, do anything. And then the switch gets toggled. We retreat and we get more “realistic.” The good news is that nobody on the outside flips our switch. We do it, and we can choose the way we consciously imagine anytime we want. Are you ready to flip your switch?
