The Rest of Your Life is Still Unwritten
We just returned from a 12 day trip to Italy. For almost two weeks, it was nice to cut off cell phones, the Internet, e-mail and television except for a few minutes of CNN news. We thoroughly enjoyed the visit and appreciated the diversity of the Italian culture. In particular, it was fun to dine in places where we were the only people inside who weren’t Italian. The menus weren’t in English so we took some good guesses at what to order and were successful. Many restaurants — pizza places, trattorias, osterias and ristorantes — do have their menus in Italian and English. We just figured that the ones that didn’t might be more authentic. I don’t know if you can get a bad meal in Italy. We certainly didn’t have any.
