Won’t Accept Yourself?

Some people have difficulty buying into the second part of the EFT setup affirmation — “… I deeply and completely accept myself.” How does this feel when you say it? What’s your SUDS level? Basically you’re acknowledging that even though you have this problem you accept that’s the way it is right now — problem and all. You dissolve resistance. The phrasing is integrative. Instead of splitting, dividing or conflicting, it unites. You might try, “…I deeply and completely accept how I am in this moment,” or “… I fully accept how things are and my ability to change.” Then, of course, there is Dr. Patricia Carrington’s “Choices Method.” If you want to read an excellent article on other factors in saying the setup, check out Andy Hunt’s posting, EFT for Self Acceptance: Part 1 on his blog, Practical Wellbeing. Very insightful.

Fascinating Friends with a Touch of EFT

I made a road trip to Southern California recently to visit my younger daughter and some of the friends I used to work with in broadcasting years ago. A close friend’s wife is named Lova. She’s an avid horsewoman. About ten months ago, her horse tripped and she broke her leg. When I arrived at Lova’s house, she was using a walker and crutches to get around. It seemed to me that this period of time, her leg had healed so I wondered why she still had trouble moving around. I had Lova sit down and I taught her the EFT Shortcut Method. Then something surprising happened.

Lawyer’s Itch

Before you run out and by some skin lotion, scalp conditioner or other drugstore item to relieve itching, you might want to see if there’s something emotional underneath it. What are you itching to do, or change? Are there feelings of frustration showing up as itching? Is somebody getting under your skin? Here’s a very interesting article, titled, Lawyer’s Skin Condition Clears After Tapping on the Stress Associated with Being a New Lawyer, by JoAnn SkyWatcher. There’s clearly a correlation between the emotional and the physical. As Gary Craig mentions, “Notice how she reduces the emotional issues down to conflicts within.”

Doggone Pain

I’ve been doing EFT for years, and I’m still amazed at what it can do. I dropped off my dog at the pet groomer this morning. A couple of hours later, Kathy the groomer called and said my Schnauzer was ready to be picked up. I arrived at the salon, wrote out a check and ended up in a conversation with Kathy who was also the owner. Somehow we got to talking about the EFT book I published, Freedom at Your Fingertips. I explained that the simplest way to describe EFT is “fingertip acupuncture.” With EFT, you use your fingertips instead of needles to tap away whatever bothers you. At this point, Kathy was curious and fascinated to discover more about EFT. I asked her if she had a minute, and I’d give her a brief EFT lesson. Here’s what happened in three minutes.
